hello everyone. and thanks for reading this. i just formatted my computer, because it had many problems before. now, after i finished installing
video card drivers i came to install the
sound card drivers. i found the needed drivers. ac97 realtek audio drivers. i downloaded the package and installed it. in the middle of the installation the computer suddenly rebooted. the driver wasnt WHQL logo'd. thought it was the problem, but it wasnt. i found another package, which is WHQL logo'd. and it was rebooting again. i tried running the hardware installation wizard and let it find the necessary software. the wizard found something and started to install it, and then, suddenly again, prompted again for a file located on the 'realtek ac97 audio disk'. the file name is ALCXWDM.sys. from what i understand, this file is the problematic, this causes my computer to reboot and that why it is missing in the installation. please help me solve this issue. i realy want to hear music again =). a little info that might help: motherboard: Asustek P5GLV-MX (vintage) - by cpuz chipset: i915p/i915G rev 1.xx
