Help setting up secure router, please. Hello all. I consider myself a pretty intelligent computer enthusiast. However, I am pretty clueless when it comes to the subject of networking. Basically if I'm "online", I don't ask questions.... until now.So the main computer in the house, (running Vista), is hooked up directly through a LAN connection. We have a Linksys wireless router which powers my computer and another laptop with a wireless signal. I found that the wirless connection to my rig is faster than a LAN connection for some reason. But anyways.....I noticed when I go to "connect to a network", it shows our connection, which is labled as an "unsecured network", and one of our neighbors wireless which is labled as a "secure network" and requires a password. I would like to set up ours as a "secure" network like that.If i'm not mistaken, our current set-up kinda gives anyone the right to "come in" and look around...... or other things that I just don't know about. So basically, I'm just hoping someone could help walk me through setting up a network that's more secure. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance! :grin:Oh and.... we also are running a Linksys Cable modem. |
