Remove Bios Update I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS570. I have just removed Win XP Home and replaced it with Win XP Pro. Everything worked swimmingly until I went to the Sony downloads and started installing the recommended updates.Immediately after installing a Bios update, my CD ROM no longer works. XP detects that the drive is there, but it cannot install the driver. It says the driver is either corrupt or missing, and gives error code 39.I have tried uninstalling the device and letting XP redetect it, I have tried updating the driver, to which it says there are no better drivers for it. I have tried to find a driver on the Sony downloads, there is nothing there either. The CD ROM is a Matshita UJ-831da. I have searched high and low on the web for a driver for this CD ROM and I cannot find one. (The current driver "installed" is a Microsoft one). Can someone please tell me what the problem is, and how I can fix it? Can I remove the Bios software update to return the Bios to its default state without messing around with the hardware? I am desperate for a solution as without my CD ROM I can't continue with any software installations essential for my work.Thanks. |
