Hi there So my computer including my 160GB external
hard drive was working fine this morning. At lunch time I noticed it was installing some automatic updates (O/S
windows xp Service Pack 3). I sat down to do some work this evening and oh cr*p the external
hard drive when accessed says "Drive is not formatted, do you wish to format now?". To which I immediately say No. I found the previous posts: [CLOSED] Have you "lost" a hard drive, partition or files in your computer? [SOLVED] External HD not formatted all of a sudden I have run TestDisk which shows the Drive Structure is OK and allows me to browse the directory of all my files quite happily. However after completing the steps shown in the first post I am still unable to retrieve access to the drive. And I cannot follow the later steps of the second post as the drive is NTFS. FYI - screenshot from Disk Manager FYI - screenshot from Test Disk Can you please help, the pictures and documents have not been backed up for over six months and it would be very sad to lose them all. Any-one know how to do the same with an NTFS drive? Thanks Mark
