Installing second HDD, computer keeps restarting. Alright, to start off, I first had a 500GB 7200.11 Seagate HDD. Then, I remembered I had a 250GB 7200.10 HDD in my old computer, with windows still installed in it from the previous computer and motherboard. So, I went about, and hooked everything up as it should be. Started the computer up, got as far as the Windows logo. Look at that, monitor stopped receiving a signal, but everything else is still running. HDD light was a constant blue. So, I go into my Linux partition. It starts up great, as usual. But, I get no network access. Everything else works but the internet. I have no idea why. I disconnect the new HDD, and see what I get with the old 500GB one that was previously alone. I start up the computer, choose Windows, chose both Resume as Normal, and Use Last Known Good Settings. Both met with constant restarts after the Windows Logo. And, the same problem with Ubuntu. It's rather frustrating, because the computer was working fine right before, and I know everything's hooked in right. The only thing I can think of is that I somehow messed up the Master Boot Record to some extent, but I don't know if that'd let me run Ubuntu still. Anything else that you need to know, I'll be more than happy to tell. And apologies if something like this was already on the front page. I checked, but didn't see anything like it. |
