Hey guys i have no idea about anything to do with protable
hard drives except they suck a lot right now. ok so just bare with me.Well i have had the maxtor for ages and its all fine then i try to transfer a video file from my documents in the drive and it takes ages, then about halfway through it becomes frozen and says a "$Mft error" and also a "Delayed Write Failure" thingy shows up aswell. The drive doesn't sound too good also. I can still get into it and kind of look around i just cant open any pictures or video files only folders containing them. It says error I/O device. When i went into the maxtor manager that came with it i used the test section to tell me if the drive is buggered. It gave me the serial number outlined in a big red evil looking box.Now as its still under warrenty i'm not really concerned about replacing the drive. But its the images, video, etc that i dont want to loose. I was hoping since they are still visible and the device is still showing the storage full of my information that it can be salvaged. I wanted to know how and if it is possible to remove this information before i return it?Any help would be so fantastic as i'm really crap at this stuff and really desperate. Also maybe someone could reccomend a better/safer external drive i should replace it with.
