Default Partioning for Multiple OS Installs

I know that you can't have more than 4 primary partitions (at lest thats what the program said "GParted"). So let me tell you what I want. My test PC, PC I use to mess around with anything it can handle..learn new things explore more OS types like Linux, and what not. I want to split my 80GB (aprox 76GB) into [(7) 10GB partitions] and a [(1) 2-6GB swap partition] for Linux. So I used "GParted" to do all that. I made (3 Windows Partitions) and (4 Linux Partitions) and then the (1 swap partition). I then shutdown and went to install all the windows before the linux (I do it this way to not have to worry about grub and stuff...). Now when i get to the XP partition section. I click the first partition "C", but it won't allow me to install it there, (wish I remember what it said). So I deleted partition C and made a new one, still wouldn't let me.. So I then deleted all partitions and made [(3) 10GB partitons] and left the rest unallcoated. It let me then install. So now I have: windows xp Pro Windows Server 2003 R2 Windows Server 2008 SUSE Linux 11.0 all installed now. Now, all the Windows partitions are indeed primary partitions.. as made by the XP install disc partition part. The linux how ever I think is actually extended. So I was able to make a 10GB suse partition and a 2gb swap partition. So basically I'm just rambling on about this simple question I'm wondering.. Will windows allow only to be installed on primary partitions? So that means you could only have 4 windows installed on 1 HDD? Now this could have been a problem I'm not sure, but when I made the "GParted" partitions windows where NTFS and Linux EXT3. So maybe I should have made windows fat32? maybe this is the reason I had this little problem? Basically just wanna know where my plan went wrong.. lol. I think somehow I still have my plan carried out.. so far, not sure. I hope you understand, and sorry for typing so much. Also all OS's are legal so please don't be worried. Right now I'm downloading Fedora 9 and ubuntu 8.04 and kubuntu 8.04. So when they get done, I 'll know if my plan worked or not. Thanks In Advance
