Sil 3114 SATA Raid I have a ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard with an onboard Sil 3114 SATA RAID controller.I have 4 Maxtor 160 GB SATA HDDs installed as a Raid 5 array. I have the array partitioned into 30GB and 417GB logical drives. When I installed this array, I used the Maxtor drive transfer utility to transfer the two partitions from a 300 GB SATA HDD to the array. At this point everything worked fine for the most part.I somehow wiped out the windows installation on the 30 GB partition, so I reinstalled the 300 GB SATA HDD on one of the non SIL 3114 SATA ports. The computer then booted from the Non RAID drive and I had access to the RAID array. At this point everything still worked fine.I then made the mistake of converting the Legacy 417GB rAID5 Drive using the SATARAID utility. It warned me that the drive would no longer be bootable, but since I was booting from another SATA port, I thought it would work.Unfortunately, it didn't.If I enable the SIL 3114, the machine hangs Just before booting. It will not boot from the non RAID SATA drive or the DVD-ROM.If I disable the SIL 3114, it boots fine, but I have no access to the RAID array.AS far as I can see the BIOS is set up correctly:Boot Priority: CDROM then HDDHDD Priority: SATA 3, the SIL 3114 HDD does not even appear. My BIOS for the SIL 3114 is 5.1.39.Thanks. |
