Default Problem with WMI

Hey guys, I just reformatted my mothers PC. I thought I had all the drivers I needed, but forgot the ethernet card. So I found them without too much trouble, however I can't run the main driver installation program PRO2KXP.EXE Everytime I initialize the setup, it tells me that Windows Management Instrumentation Service needs to be running for it to work, and then closes. So! I manually start this service through administration tools/services and it starts, and then immediately stops claiming that it has no job to do. I'm at my witts end I just can't figure out the compatibility issue here. Can anyone help? The PC is a Dell Dimension 4550 running windows xp Home Edition and the network card is an Intel 82801DB ICH4. I have the drivers I just can't get around this error :/
