Default General Question about Installing Drivers for Vista in XP

Hi, I have backed up all my drivers using Driver Max. The question i have is if i re-install all the drivers that came with my Vista laptop in an XP install, will this cause problems if the drivers are not XP compatible? What I really want to know is firstly, will XP just ignore the incompatible drivers so i can find the XP ones myself? And secondly, if I install the drivers, and the same driver has already been installed will this cause problems (i had to slipstream an Intel SATA driver into the XP disc)? I hope this post makes sense!
