Default DVD driver

After i have formated my pc, everything has gone haywire. the problem i am trying to fix is that when i try playing DVDs i get an error message that says create overlay failed please lower your screen resolution or colour depth and try again. After extensive research i beleive it is due to my dvd driver. I am usin a BENQ DVD DD DW1620. The software i use is Windvd. If anyone knows where to get a free dvd driver or anything on the subject please let me know.
